Luckily, on our last day, Sam decided to do really well on the beach (while out of the sand) and spent several hours out there. On the days leading up to that day, he had lasted about 30 minutes before nothing would satisfy him except for taking him inside or to the pool. He refused to walk in the sand - unless we forced him and he'd cry pretty much the whole time. He would play in it some as you can see in the pictures. I still think he had fun though! He wasn't too sure about the ocean either. I guess having water rushing at you could be a bit scary. He liked it when we carried him out in it and then dunked his feet in.
All in all, we had a great trip - not quite the same as it used to be, but we did have a good time!

Sam's looking pretty hunky out there on the beach!
Congratulations on surviving your first trip to the beach with your little one. Charlie's first time was fine. He wasn't quite sure how to take the waves crashing into the shore. He didn't care for walking in the sand either the first time. The next year we went back and he absolutely loved it!! He was like a little fish in the ocean. We put his floaties on and he was floating out there without us holding on to him. He loved the bobbing up and down in the water. Glad you guys had a great time!
You're a trooper! Sorry Sam didn't love the beach-- maybe next year. He can do some training with Thomas, who not only loves sand but thinks it is edible. On second thought... :-)
I think the portraits look great, btw.
Looks like you guys had fun. We just got back for the beach. Walker hated the sand too. He played in the sand on the the last two days. Walker wasn't to sure about the waves but hey there is always next year.
